WordPress Terminology

• Taxonomy → A system for grouping content (like “Category”, “Tag”, “Genre”).
• Term → An individual item inside a taxonomy.

Taxonomy → A system or method used to group content in WordPress.

• Examples:
  • category (default WordPress taxonomy)
  • post_tag (default WordPress taxonomy)
  • Custom taxonomies like genre, location, topic, etc.

Term → A single item inside a taxonomy.

• Example:
  • In the category taxonomy → terms could be News, Sports, Technology.
  • In a custom genre taxonomy → terms could be Horror, Comedy, Action.
